Sigma Delta Tau's Philanthropy: Prevent Child Abuse America
At the 1982 National Convention, the convention body unanimously agreed to adopt Prevent Child Abuse America as Sigma Delta Tau's National Philanthropy. PCAA is a voluntary organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse through citizen action. Each Sigma Delta Tau chapter conducts an annual service project, educational program, or major fund raiser for the benefit of PCAA.
At our chapter at Emory, we host a yearly event called SDTwister to raise money and awareness for PCAA. Each year the event gets bigger, reaching more people and raising more money. This past year we held a bracketed tournament in the Woodruff PE Center that raised almost $2,000!
In the Spring semester, we focus our efforts on individual service projects in the community. In the past we have worked with the Boys and Girls club of Atlanta and Sunrise assisted Living Center. This semester we are committed to increasing our community involvement and plan on doing service project every week.
